Teaser: Guess the Movie!
Scouting NY recently celebrated its fifth birthday!! That's five years and over 650 posts dedicated to exploring New York's mysteries and hidden treasures. Plenty more articles to post coming soon, but this is the the one time of the year when I politely ask, with hat in hand:
If you’re a fan of Scouting NY and have enjoyed my work over the past year, would you consider making a donation to help me make my first movie? If you think I do a good job with my site, all I can say is that I’ve been working a thousand times as hard on my movie, and literally every penny counts. And you even get a special Scouting NY sticker/magnet as a thank-you gift! Click here to donate!
On Monday, we’ll be posting a brand new “New York, You’ve Changed” article, part of a series in which we compare the New York depicted in a particular movie to the city of today on a shot-by-shot basis. Many readers were pleasantly surprised at how little had changed with regard to the New York of Ghostbusters (part 1, part 2).
Our new film subject, sadly, is the complete opposite: nearly every location has been demolished or completely renovated since the movie was filmed over 30 years ago, and it’s taken two weeks of research just to figure out where everything is. Quick example:
You know the movie – the test is how quickly you guessed it. Check in on Monday for the full article!
It's fundraising week on Scouting NY, and if you liked the post you just read, would you consider making a donation to help me make my first movie? The goal is $30,000, and already, 1,187 generous readers have donated $25,291.00. Just $5 or $10 can make a difference - AND you get a snazzy Scouting NY sticker or magnet as a Thank-You gift! Click here to donate today!
