A Very Important Reminder
Scouting NY recently celebrated its fifth birthday!! That's five years and over 650 posts dedicated to exploring New York's mysteries and hidden treasures. Plenty more articles to post coming soon, but this is the the one time of the year when I politely ask, with hat in hand:
If you’re a fan of Scouting NY and have enjoyed my work over the past year, would you consider making a donation to help me make my first movie? If you think I do a good job with my site, all I can say is that I’ve been working a thousand times as hard on my movie, and literally every penny counts. And you even get a special Scouting NY sticker/magnet as a thank-you gift! Click here to donate!
Important reminder: you’ve got just 8 days to put together a Halloween costume for next Saturday!
For New Yorkers, if you’ve never been to the Village Halloween parade, you’re missing out on one of the hands-down best city events of the year. There is NOTHING like marching down Sixth Ave and seeing literally millions of New Yorkers exhibiting their creativity in the most horrifying or hilarious ways imaginable. Last year, I was the Invisible Man…
Some design their costumes months in advance, others frantically piece together outfits in the half-hour before the parade. Whatever you do, just don’t be one of the suckers in this hour-long line on October 31…
To those that have never gone, anyone can march in the parade, costume or not. Just go to Canal & Sixth Ave and head on in. Even if you just want to watch, I still recommend doing it from inside the parade. You can get much better pictures and see the costumes up close.
It's fundraising week on Scouting NY, and if you liked the post you just read, would you consider making a donation to help me make my first movie? The goal is $30,000, and already, 1,187 generous readers have donated $25,291.00. Just $5 or $10 can make a difference - AND you get a snazzy Scouting NY sticker or magnet as a Thank-You gift! Click here to donate today!
