Oldsmobile of Flatbush
I love traveling down Flatbush Ave past Prospect Park because there’s so much history to find hidden on every block. I noticed this Oldsmobile ghost sign (ghost sign: a business sign remaining from a long defunct business) at the corner of Avenue D and Flatbush above a liquor store: God knows how long ago this…
Scouting an Abandoned Hotel in Southern California
Whenever I see a sign like the one below hanging outside of an abandoned property, I immediately feel an intense desire to get inside. When such a sign is hanging outside a hotel built in the early 1900’s in Southern California that has been boarded up since 1939, that urge goes through the roof. Let…
Christmas In Williamsburg
Watch out when you’re coming out of the Bedford Avenue L-Train stop in Williamsburg… …Someone hung mistletoe above the stairwell entrance! OK, it’s plastic, but any sort of mistletoe counts at Christmas, right? -SCOUT

That’s the firehouse we shot as a location for “Frequency”.

Garth and Eric – my bad, should really stop writing these things up after midnight…
Funny thing about this firehouse is that the same architects built an economy version of it on 518 W. 170th Street.
One more thing: I work one block down, on Bond Street, and it seems that every other week that street is hijacked by a film crew, including their large dressing room trucks and catering stands. What’s the deal with Bond Street?
Great building, designed by Flagg & Chambers – Earnest Flag also did the Scribner’s Building on 5th Avenue, with a similar great arch. I believe this was the home of the Fire Commisioner when it built.
