On Top of An Old Elevator
The other day, while scouting a rooftop, my guide took me through an old elevator room and showed me the machinery, which he said mostly dates back to the 1920’s. I’m always amazed when such old technology is still in working use today… But my favorite bit was this panel, which looks almost steampunkish in…
Scouting Disney World
This photo is driving me bonkers – what intersection is this? I’ve lived near madison square park for 4 years and i have never seen this view. Where is this? If this was the intersection of 23rd and b’way where is the plethora of cars? Well, most people realized pretty quickly that my last post…
Where Racquetballs Go To Die
I’ve been scouting warehouse rooftops in Brooklyn on the East River recently. Though this one in Greenpoint has a pretty great view… …what really impressed me is that I had apparently stumbled into racquetball heaven! There were dozens and dozens of racquetballs all over the roof, which I can only assume are from kids playing…
The 40th St Philosophers
One of my favorites bits in Times Square can be found on West 40th Street between Broadway and 6th. It’s two blocks from the main Times Square action, and you can feel the frantic energy vanish as soon as you turn onto the street. If you look closely at the building to the left, you’ll…
A Surprise In The Freight Entrance
Last Friday, I was walking down West 37th Street off of Eight Avenue when I happened to pass by this freight entrance (you can see a man wheeling something out of it below). There are a zillion unremarkable freight elevator entrances on 37th Street, and normally I wouldn’t look twice… But something caught my eye…
A Secret World on the Upper West Side: A Trip Down Pomander Walk
When you first turn onto West 95th Street from Broadway, it seems like pretty much any Upper West Side block: a few apartment buildings, some fire escapes, a tree or two…Nothing in particular to catch the eye. In fact, I’m not even sure how many trips down the street it took before I finally noticed…

no trump mortuary?
Oh, but just think about how much branding work went into each treatment of the TRUMP name!
How about the beginning of an Eddie Murphy film, that pretty bad too.
He won’t be trumped!
If you go to Lasker Skating Rink (and I imagine the other Trump rinks too) you can pay way too much for a bottle of Trump Water. His face is on the label too!
As of today (5/25/10), his face is on Snapple bottles. Snapple is across the street from my office in the Flatiron Building, giving away bottles of a new iced tea that was created by one of the contestants on Celebrity Apprentice. I was going to pass it by, but my wife pointed out that there’s not much free in this city, and I should grab one while they were available.
Great blog, BTW!
I can’t help but think of his heinous hair-piece when I see those curly tops to the “T’s”…
Would this also serve as a Trump Polling location?
