An Average Day at the Ghostbusters Firehouse

The consequence of being a popular New York City shooting location:

I’m embarrassed to say I’ve asked to use the pole before.

  • Where is it located? It looks like maybe somewhere in lower Manhattan.

hi, do you take location requests? id like to know more about 949 willoughby in bushwick brooklyn. i think you could do an awesome tour of the place if given access

  • Just a minute there, Scout. You can’t tell us you’ve asked to slide down the pole without divulging if they actually let you! Did they? (And did you pony up $20?)

    • Ha, oh man, if I remember right (easily 8 years ago now), the guy on duty said he couldn’t let me go up to the second floor, but if I could shimmy up a bit, “knock yourself out.” So I shimmied all the way up to the second floor, then slid down. Sweet!

  • Your descriptions are a poetic fantasy for my imagination. Seriously this is why I love NYC. It’s enchanting. I know even my own town has great gems, yours are just beautifully described

Nice. I’d happily shell out $20 to slide down that pole! Of course getting to NYC from California would cost a bit more than that! But nice to see they have somewhat of a sense of humor about the location.

A friend of mine lives right across the street on North Moore. I’m a massive GB fan, though I didn’t actually take any tours or anything, and never quite realized what I was seeing. One day she pointed it out and (she’s a VERY attractive woman) has mentioned that the firemen there are always very nice to her. She never mentioned if she’s been inside.
