A Grave Matter
Scouting NY recently celebrated its fifth birthday!! That's five years and over 650 posts dedicated to exploring New York's mysteries and hidden treasures. Plenty more articles to post coming soon, but this is the the one time of the year when I politely ask, with hat in hand:
If you’re a fan of Scouting NY and have enjoyed my work over the past year, would you consider making a donation to help me make my first movie? If you think I do a good job with my site, all I can say is that I’ve been working a thousand times as hard on my movie, and literally every penny counts. And you even get a special Scouting NY sticker/magnet as a thank-you gift! Click here to donate!
Part 2 of the Rockland State Psychiatric Hospital tour will be up on Monday, and there’s a lot of cool stuff yet to see, so be sure to check back. In the meantime, had a quick question…
I was in a Jewish cemetery recently, and noticed this box in front of one of the graves.
Judging by the rocks and paper on the grave, I’m guessing something happened fairly recently…
…but what exactly is this used for?
UPDATE! Answers are in the comments from some helpful readers. Thanks guys, fascinating!
