Great Mercedes I saw parked on Church St south of Canal – anyone know anything about its make?
Also, modern cars should still have dual enormous horns visibly attached to the outside.

I don’t know about its make, but the license plate means that this car is registered in Worms (Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany) because of the “WO” and approved to drive around by the TÜV until 2011 because of the pink colored vehicle inspection sticker.
Greetings from Germany
The horns are nice, but should only be allowed after the owner has completed a six week course on appropriate usage.
Dear Scout, firstly I would like to repeat that I just love your blog and it’s the nicest way to be somehow in NYC while being in Paris.
Regarding the car, I believe it’s not a real vintage Mercedes (like an SSK) buit a kind of replica, perhaps like an Excalibur.
Could be a 1929 Mercedes SSK Gazelle. See a replica here http://www.murrayco.com/Car_Collection/mercedes_1929_replica.html
(btw. Your site’s a joy!, thanks)
It is a replica “kit car” offered not by Mercedes Benz, but by a company that sells other kits like it.
The wheels and tires, which are of contemporary width and diameter, would indicate that this is a replica, not an original. An actual period piece would have taller, narrower wheels.
