Serious Rule At The Yonkers Public Library
Some libraries have NO SMOKING or NO CELL PHONE signs on the front door. At the Yonkers Public Library? I’m amazed that this is such a problem as to necessitate a laminated sign. I mean, I wasn’t planning on bringing any balloons inside…But it’s sort of a downer to know I couldn’t if I suddenly…

The Sightseer’s Guide to Being Stuck in Traffic on I-87
Over the past week, I’ve been taking I-87 North to scout in Rockland County… …which means I’ve spent about an hour each day stuck in this: As anyone who travels it regularly knows, I-87 can be a hellhole of traffic due to the unholy convergence of multiple interstates and local bridges in the most inopportune…
Is Scouting NY As Enjoyable As A Toilet Brush? A Helpful Guide
Yesterday, I received this e-mail from a reader: An interesting question. Really, how to put a value on content you’re used to getting for free? After much thought, I realized the only solution is to compare the enjoyment you get from Scouting NY to products you buy without much thought. In other words, if you…

But Do They Have Bookworms?
I was scouting a nice event space recently when I saw something unusual on the mantle… Plants growing out of books – what a great idea! Looks like they used an Exacto-knife to carve out the pages, then potted some plants that don’t require a lot of water. Here’s another… Why don’t I ever come…

Wait, is that math right?
Ha, check the sidebar for the break down.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Nick–and to Lulu, too. And thanks for all the pleasure your blog brings me all year long!
As one of my earliest readers, means a ton you’ve been reading for so long. Thank you!
You keep putting up such great content, and I’ll keep reading! AND bringing along my friends.
Merry Christmas Nick! Always enjoy your site. I’ve sent you a few bucks and received a neat acknowledgement. Seeing the video, you
should consider being in a movie or two. Lulu looks like a happy pup
but I can see she doesn’t talk, unlike my dog, Sophia. 🙂

Thank you as always!
Fundraising= distasteful.
Ha, wait, why? Each post takes on average three hours minimum to put together, usually more for research and travel. Assuming three hour average times 125 posts last year, that’s 375 hours that could have been spent on forwarding my film career…and I feel that’s low. I started the donation system cause it meant that my site somehow tied in with my ambitions to become a director, and that those hours weren’t just being spent on a hobby. Makes sense to me – and my readers don’t seem to mind. In fact, the only people who have been weird about it are other NYC bloggers.
Pay no attention to the haters. I get way more value out of this site than pretty much any site that costs money – throwing a few dollars in your pocket is more than worth it.
It’s like a PBS fund drive; the folks who want to watch for free can still do so, but for the rest of us it’s an opportunity to say thank you. Not like you’re forcing anyone to pay up. 🙂
It’s been a pleasure donating for your film. I wish I could donate more, not only for the film, but in agreement for this wonderful site that makes me dream everyday. So keep the good work up, enjoy life and have a nice Thanksgiving!
PS. You look very pleasant! Thanks for the vid.
Thank you sir!
Yea, you’re right, I’m wrong. You do fantastic work on this site. Mea Culpa! Your movie should be tops.
