It’s Just A Migraine
Real quick, I wanted to talk about something that’s totally off topic, but is important to me. Recently, this video of a reporter suffering aphasia, or an inability to speak correctly, went viral. CBS reporter Serene Branson was about to give a live report after the Grammy’s when she found that her words just weren’t…
So This Is The Largest Boulder On Long Island
Yesterday, I was driving along Shelter Rock Road in Long Island on my way back to the city… And as I was driving, I started to think to myself that Shelter Rock Road is a really interesting name for a street, and that it was too bad I’d probably never know find out what the…
Plagiarism is the Sincerest Form of Flattery: Thanks, Daily News!
Dear Daily News, Several alert readers have pointed out that today’s newspaper has an article entitled “Tree grows through office at Cove Auto Towing in Queens” by Barry Paddock – just days after I published my own piece about a tree growing through an office at Cove Auto Towing in Queens! No mention of Scouting…
Amongst The Stars At The Top Of The Chrysler Building
The 71st floor observatory of the Chrysler Building, circa 1930. Wow: Opened in 1930, the observatory featured a solar system motif, complete with a starburst roof and planet-like lamps. The observatory closed in 1945, and was gutted sometime later. More pictures here; sad pictures of the upper floors in an abandoned state here (also since…
Friday Locations Puzzler!
I didn’t have time to type up a roadtrip post tonight, so instead, I’m going to momentarily bring this back to NYC and give you an exciting Friday Puzzler! Woo! While staying in a somewhat sketchy motel in the south, my girlfriend and I were flipping through the nine or ten working cable channels and…

Wait, is that math right?
Ha, check the sidebar for the break down.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too, Nick–and to Lulu, too. And thanks for all the pleasure your blog brings me all year long!
As one of my earliest readers, means a ton you’ve been reading for so long. Thank you!
You keep putting up such great content, and I’ll keep reading! AND bringing along my friends.
Merry Christmas Nick! Always enjoy your site. I’ve sent you a few bucks and received a neat acknowledgement. Seeing the video, you
should consider being in a movie or two. Lulu looks like a happy pup
but I can see she doesn’t talk, unlike my dog, Sophia. 🙂
Mack
Thank you as always!
Fundraising= distasteful.
Ha, wait, why? Each post takes on average three hours minimum to put together, usually more for research and travel. Assuming three hour average times 125 posts last year, that’s 375 hours that could have been spent on forwarding my film career…and I feel that’s low. I started the donation system cause it meant that my site somehow tied in with my ambitions to become a director, and that those hours weren’t just being spent on a hobby. Makes sense to me – and my readers don’t seem to mind. In fact, the only people who have been weird about it are other NYC bloggers.
Pay no attention to the haters. I get way more value out of this site than pretty much any site that costs money – throwing a few dollars in your pocket is more than worth it.
It’s like a PBS fund drive; the folks who want to watch for free can still do so, but for the rest of us it’s an opportunity to say thank you. Not like you’re forcing anyone to pay up. 🙂
It’s been a pleasure donating for your film. I wish I could donate more, not only for the film, but in agreement for this wonderful site that makes me dream everyday. So keep the good work up, enjoy life and have a nice Thanksgiving!
PS. You look very pleasant! Thanks for the vid.
Thank you sir!
Yea, you’re right, I’m wrong. You do fantastic work on this site. Mea Culpa! Your movie should be tops.
