I was recently up scouting the College of Mount St. Vincent, which has a gorgeous campus overlooking the Hudson River. Mount St. Vincent often appears during daylight hours as an archetypal college in movies and TV shows (the movie Doubt in particular). But personally, I love visiting at night. Seriously – how can you beat…
Strangeness Afoot in Old Trinity Cemetery
I was scouting the Old Trinity Cemetery when a guy walked up to me and asked if I had seen any chickens. OK, that sounds like the beginning to a joke. Before I delve into my odd story, let me give a quick rundown on one of the most beautiful and interesting outdoor spaces in…
A Rare Time Machine Sighting In The Bronx
In my 7+ years of scouting in New York City, I’ve only seen a handful of time machines. They’re just about the rarest thing you can stumble on, and on those few occasions when you think you seen one out of the corner of your eye, you’ll turn – and find only empty air. But…
Is This George Jetson’s New York City Apartment??
The other day, I was scouting a midtown office space with some pretty great views. As I was taking pictures, I noticed something a few blocks north… What the hell was this crazy apartment??
Those Creepy Fake Mickey Rides…
Is it just me, or does anyone else get creeped out by the bizarre knock-off Mickey rides often found outside bodegas around New York? Don’t know if that’s David Crow (kinda looks like him), if not, it’s a direct riff on Crow’s “Red Stiletto” which was a fixture in the Houston Art Car Parade for a few years until being retired to the museum.

It’s way cool to see the shoe driving around.
Pumpity pump
haha…I wonder if this is the show that was parked outside the Marshall’s shoe store right by 8th & B’Way. The store didn’t last long, and the ‘shoe-mobile’ I think was only there for a few days. Maybe it actually had nothing to do with Marshall’s….
Like Ed Sullivan said “It’s a really big shoe…”
Does it take “high-heel test”?
I really enjoy your Scouting reports.
