Can We Help This Girl Feel Good About NYC Again?
I was robbed for the first time about three years ago. It happened at about 6AM – I know, because that’s when I woke up and heard someone opening my bedroom door. At the time, I was living in a loft with other people, and, half-asleep, figured it was just someone drunkenly coming into the…
A Grave Matter
Part 2 of the Rockland State Psychiatric Hospital tour will be up on Monday, and there’s a lot of cool stuff yet to see, so be sure to check back. In the meantime, had a quick question… I was in a Jewish cemetery recently, and noticed this box in front of one of the graves….
Leaving NY: Newark’s Little Red Diner
Note: I think this might be gone. Unless you need to be somewhere on time, I find that getting lost is often one of the best things that can happen to you. Today, I was heading back to the city from Bayonne, NJ, and got confused trying to follow my iPhone’s directions to the highway….
Abandoned on the Palisades: The Ruins of Cliffdale Manor
For the past couple weeks, I’ve been scouting the Rockland County area, and every time I drive the Palisades north… …I notice this strange castle-like structure whiz past out my window: Clearly the ruins of something, it kept bugging me each time I drove by until finally, I had to stop and figure out what…

Once a bath house, the rec center now houses a public pool. What I especially love about this building are the two aquatic sculptures in the upper corners. In…
Manhattan’s East 20th Street Beach
It might come as a surprise, but Manhattan has beaches. Yes, they’re small, often submerged at high tide, and you’d be crazy to go swimming in the water, but they’re still beaches. And there are more than you’d think. I’m a huge fan of any property in Manhattan that goes unused or ignored, or at…

Is that by any chance on Metropolitan Ave in Brooklyn?
Nope, that storefront is on Driggs Ave, between N 7th and N 8th. I know because I live directly across the street, and see people photographing it all the time. I just sat in the doorway the other day to eat some pizza.
This photo has so much character and I am sure it has a few stories to tell.
I agree with Natali, this photo has lived many lives!!!
Beautiful!!
i love this.
