How To Cover Up A 100-Year-Old Brooklyn Landmark
I’ve been spending some time in downtown Brooklyn recently, and as I was walking down Fulton Street last week, I was suddenly reminded of an experience from way back when I first started scouting. Back in 2007 or so, I was in the same area searching for vacant storefronts for a movie when I happened…
A Visit To Sleepy Hollow
“The sequestered situation of this church seems always to have made it a favorite haunt of troubled spirits…To look upon its grass-grown yard, where the sunbeams seem to sleep so quietly, one would think that there at least the dead might rest in peace.” “On one side of the church extends a wide woody dell,…
Is That A Woman Holding A Decapitated Head on the New York Public Library?
The other day, I was scouting the steps of the New York Public Library main branch. I’ve had to do this assignment a million times over the years for various movies and TV shows that want to shoot at the world’s most famous library, and I began thinking how sad it was to know a…
The Mysterious 10-Foot Wide Brownstone on East 37th Street
I swear, I’ve taken the East 37th Street exit from the Midtown Tunnel a zillion times over the years and I’ve never noticed it before… Which, frankly makes sense: look down the rest of 37th Street from 3rd Ave and you’d never know anything is out of the ordinary. But yesterday, stuck in traffic and…
Oldsmobile of Flatbush
I love traveling down Flatbush Ave past Prospect Park because there’s so much history to find hidden on every block. I noticed this Oldsmobile ghost sign (ghost sign: a business sign remaining from a long defunct business) at the corner of Avenue D and Flatbush above a liquor store: God knows how long ago this…
The Best Fast Food Burger In NYC – Petey’s Burger!
One of the few job perks of being a location scout: the studio gives us $10 for lunch. Woo! The Scout Lunch is a look at some of my favorite restaurants in New York to spend that $10 at. Those in the know call it the In’N’Out of Queens. That alone should merit a trip…

Hey, it ain’t easy being green… But somehow, both this lawn and Kermit manage to do it!
(You’re totally not crazy, by the way. I think it does, too!)
That’s two questions and the answer to both is “Yes!” 🙂
I think I know these buildings…Is this Forest Hills? If so I’ve lived close by my whole life and never gotten this unique perspective!
it’s not that easy having a tree growing out of your cheek
Yes Forest Hills at Queens Blvd and Yellowstone Blvd
It even has the seam on the top of his head! Too much detail for coincidence!
It’s not too surprising to find this greenspace at a development relatively close to the Kaufman Astoria Studios where Sesame Street is filmed.
What a coincidence! I wonder if the residents that overlook it think the same. Excellent perspective, by the way!
Fabulous high-rise shot Nick – from where did you take it??
That’s Parker Towers. While looking at the building, did you notice the end apartments are accessed via an exterior entrence on what appears at first glance to be terraces. The buildings were constructed this way to save on the cost of elevators and maximizing the floorplan.
In fact it IS fashioned after Kermit! The story goes that Jack Parker who built and owns this property did this for his grandson who absolutely loved Kermy.
