Can You Help Scout Make His First Movie?

If you’re a fan of Scouting NY, would you consider making a donation to my film fund? I’m trying to make my first movie, and if you’ve enjoyed my work on this site (to date, more than 650 articles and over 12,000 pictures!), all I can say is that I’ve been working a thousand times as hard on my film project. Literally every penny will help make it a reality.

Goal: $50,000

Raised so far: $36,348.00

Readers Who Donated: 1,728

And there’s a bonus for anyone who gives $10 or more – a special, one-of-a-kind, extremely rare and highly coveted Scouting NY sticker/magnet, celebrating the particularly unique manner in which New Yorkers can ignore just about anything!

Donate $10 or more and you receive the sticker version; donate $15 and you’ll receive the magnet version! Dimensions are 6″ x 3″. If you live outside the US, please add $5. I’ll start sending them out as soon as they come back from the printers in a few weeks.

Here’s a look at where Scouting NY readers have donated from by postal code:

You can read all about my film project here.

Whether or not you donate, thank you always for being a loyal reader. Here’s to another six years of opening New York’s closed doors.

  2. Happy Birthday!

Does this mean the site has to register for Kindergarten now? I hope you put in your applications a long time ago. You know how hard it is to get a kid into a good Kindergarten in this city?

  10. I have been teaching at LIU for many (many) years , and have long hoped to see the Paramount restored. Now that we have a new gym it seems more likely, but huge amounts of funding would be needed.
One thing you missed is the historic Wurlitzer Theater Organ located beneath the gym floor.
It is a world treasure and still in use from time to time.
I would appreciate a copy of each of your older photographs , as many did not appear on my screen.
I will gladly pay for them, and use them in my efforts to have the theater restored.
Please send an address as I don’t do financial transactions on the computer.
I am eager to hear from you.
