The Tower of Terror on West 11th Street
When I turned the corner onto West 11th Street and saw the Palazzo Chupi for the first time… …I have to admit, the first thing that came to mind was the Tower of Terror in Disney World. I know, I know, a more educated writer would be focusing on the Chupi’s neo-Mediterranean flourishes, not referencing…
Someone Planted a Bicycle Garden in Queens!
Note: this has since been removed. I was driving along Vernon Blvd in Queens when I spotted something you don’t usually see under the 59th Street Bridge… A bicycle garden! Or, to be specific, a row of flowers made out of old bike parts: Very inventive stuff – check out this sunflower… The group responsible…
Inside The Fletcher Mansion on Fifth Avenue
If you’ve ever been annoyed at the fact that most of Fifth Avenue’s mansions probably don’t want you knocking at their front door, do yourself a favor and check out one most don’t realize is open to the public: the Ukrainian Institute at the corner of 79th Street and Fifth Ave, built in 1899 as…
Graffiti From Mom
Not sure how long this graffiti has been up on White street east of Broadway, but it always makes my day a little better when I happen to walk by it. Happy Mothers Day! -SCOUT
Did Scouting NY Readers Help A Guy Get Engaged?
A few weeks ago, I ran a post about a guy who emailed me for help in finding a unique New York location to propose to his girlfriend. I turned the question over to Scouting NY readers asking for original ideas (not the Empire State Building observatory!), and we received a ton of really great…

no trump mortuary?
Oh, but just think about how much branding work went into each treatment of the TRUMP name!
How about the beginning of an Eddie Murphy film, that pretty bad too.
He won’t be trumped!
If you go to Lasker Skating Rink (and I imagine the other Trump rinks too) you can pay way too much for a bottle of Trump Water. His face is on the label too!
As of today (5/25/10), his face is on Snapple bottles. Snapple is across the street from my office in the Flatiron Building, giving away bottles of a new iced tea that was created by one of the contestants on Celebrity Apprentice. I was going to pass it by, but my wife pointed out that there’s not much free in this city, and I should grab one while they were available.
Great blog, BTW!
I can’t help but think of his heinous hair-piece when I see those curly tops to the “T’s”…
Would this also serve as a Trump Polling location?
