The Jungles of West 28th Street – Exploring New York’s Flower District
I was scouting near Chelsea the other day, and happened to walk through one of my all-time favorite green spaces in the city: West 28th Street between 6th & 7th Avenues. To properly start the journey into the jungles of West 28th Street, begin on 6th Avenue just south of the McDonalds. There, you’ll find…
Sylvan Terrace: A Hidden Gem In Washington Heights
Last week, I was scouting up in Washington Heights and found myself heading south down Amsterdam. As I was walking, I noticed a stone wall on my left… …with a little staircase set into it: Curious, I headed up… …and man was I blown away by what I found at the top: a cobblestone street…
Back In Time At The Catalina Beach Club
If you’ve ever dreamed of going back in time, forget the DeLorean and simply drive out to Atlantic Beach to visit the Catalina Beach Club. As far as I can tell, time stopped at Catalina one day around 1950 or so… …and the minute hand hasn’t ticked since. And man, is it beautiful.
A 19th Century Candy Store Hidden Near Wall Street
Last week, I wrote about a World War I fighter plane on the roof of 77 Water Street. As it turns out, that’s just one of many surprises to be found around the building! As I was waiting for my appointment to check out the plane, I took a few pictures outside the building from…
Halloween in NY: Bleecker Street
Halloween is the only time of the year that I actually pay attention to store window displays, and I’m always impressed by the offerings on Bleecker Street in the West Village. I took a bike ride down Bleecker today to take some pictures (I’m convinced there’s some sort of secret neighborhood association that spreads extra…
Ruins in the Hudson
Two of my favorite ruins in Manhattan can be found partially submerged in the Hudson River, overshadowed by the nearby West Side Highway and row of ugly, bland Trump apartment high rises. They’re certainly not secrets to anyone who’s ever walked through Riverside Park, but I recently scouted them as backdrops for a film, and…

Since I view the site on Google Reader, I can see posts even after you deleted them. So, my answer to the A-Lister hotel is the Trump International. Was I right?
Yeah, Trump would have been my guess too. Incidently, the tall white hotel tower on opposite side of the park is The Pierre. It’s former ballroom is now a penthouse for sale. Might be interesting to do a piece on that, as it is supposed to be quite something.
Mandarin Oriental at Columbus Circle?
The Mayflower? Oh wait, that’s not exactly A-list…but I did stay there for a movie job in early 2001 so I remember that view.
The Ritz-Carlton
This is just a shot in the dark, but is it John Lennon’s room? It would be appropriate….
The Plaza.
Since the Post caption is “A view from an A-Lister’s hotel room”; I would say you were at the Carlyle
It is from Columbus Circle — which looks to be Mandarin Oriental – in the Time Warner Center.
The Mayflower hotel has been gone for years – it’s now 15 CPW, which is has some of the most expensive real estate in NYC – that and TWC. I love – and live on the upper west side. This is my hood.
since my DH built the darn TWC, I’m guessing from the angle this is Trump Intl.. a tad north of it.
Essex?
בתי מלון, אין על מי לסמוך חייב לבדוק מלונות לעוף מפה !!
I was going to say 15 Central Park West. Does that have a hotel though? I don’t think so.
