  1. So exciting to see you featured on TV, up close and in person! Thanks for posting your past favorites–I’ll be checking out the ones I missed.

  2. I saw you on CBS Sunday morning. You did a great job. I love that show! I also love movies & beautiful old buildings. Last month while visiting my 89 years old dad–I live in Maine (also a wonderful place to scout movie locations)–he showed me a building that knocked my socks off. It’s the N.Y. State Supreme Court, Appellate Div. courthouse at 27 Madison Avenue. If you use it, does my dad get a finders fee? I’ll have to tell him about your website (although he’s not computer-literate).

  3. Saw you on the show this morning. Great job! So weird to see a blogger “in person” and not just words on a page. =) I’m moving back to NYC in a little over a year. Excited to return to a place with such amazing history in every building.

  4. Great segment on CBS this morning. I’ve really enjoyed your blog and twitter posts and they have made me look at the city where I live (Toronto, Ontario Canada)in a different way. I have been surprised at what small and wonderful details there are in the city landscape.

  5. Great piece. How lucky and fortunate you are to love what you do and do it so well. Don’t get too “big” for your blog or get big but still do the blog!!! Blessings in your future work and I always enjoy your posts.

  6. good spot on cbs. you’re truly talking like a new yorker. stay with it and enjoy the ride.

  7. I’ve been reading the blog for about 2 years now. Glad to see you getting some TV time. It was nice to see more of 5 Beekman. Amazing building. Any updates on what they plan to do with it?

  8. Hey Nick, living in Australia I missed the CBS bit (in fact I don’t get CBS at all!), but i have followed the blog for a few years now. Congratulations on the coverage! I thought you did a great job (don’t know why you were worried!). I always love checking out your new posts for stuff to check out next time I’m back in town. Thanks for doing a great job!

  9. Great stuff!

That train scene reminds me of decades ago when I lived in the Kensington section of Brooklyn. Along McDonald Ave., under the el there were train tracks. I asked the man who owned the bar at the corner of Ditmas and McDonald about them, and he said that trains ran along there. Figured he was pulling my leg.

Some time later I was driving south along McDonald, looked in my rearview mirror, a darn train! It was hauling coal to a spot somewhere south of the Avenue H train cut.

  10. Great piece – the passion you have for your work really showed. I have only known about your site for a few weeks. It was exciting to have such an in-depth intro to your occupation just as I was learning about you/your site.

  11. Congrats on the CBS segment!

If it weren’t for you, none of us would know about that Beekman St treasure. And, some day, I dream of seeing it for myself. Keep up the great posts!

  12. I don’t usually watch morning shows – but I am very glad you pointed me to this one. Excellent piece. If I wasn’t already a big fan, I’d become one!

  13. I’m so happy for you! What a great story! Any movie is going to be shot at the last building?
