Please Do Not Urinate On The Smallest Street In Manhattan
Weehawken Street, located as far west in the Village as you can go, bears the title of Manhattan’s smallest street. I can only assume it also holds one other record… Having the most signs asking people not to pee on it: Literally, there are four signs hung on the block all requesting the same courtesy……
The Fanciest Mouse Hole In New York City
I was walking up Wythe Ave in Williamsburg last week when something caught my eye… Wait for it… Getting closer… Almost there… And here it is: the fanciest mouse hole in New York City, featuring a Federal-style doorway complete with pilasters and a pediment! Alas, a scan of the code in the doorknocker area reveals…
The Weirdest Beach in New York City
The path to New York City’s weirdest beach is actually quite pleasant. After walking some distance along the quiet trail, the trees gradually disappear, replaced by reeds swaying gently in the breeze. When you finally arrive at the beach, perhaps passing a couple of bikes leaning against an old wooden bench, you might feel as…
What’s Going On With This Red Mini-Van?
I was shooting some buildings around Madison Ave in the 20’s Tuesday (just before the snowpocalypse of 2010 hit) when I noticed this red minivan parked illegally. Specifically, what caught my eye was not the car itself, but rather the weird wire coming out of the rear window, running into the gas tank, coming back…
Pool Rules Signs Leave Nothing To The Imagination
I’ve been scouting swimming pools at country clubs in the New York area recently, and I’m pretty amazed at how graphic the Pool Rules signs can be. Like this one, spotted at a country club with a $30K initiation fee and $30k/year membership dues: “Discharge of fecal matter” – are you kidding me?? I know…
The Most Egotistical Sign in New York City?
I challenge you to find worse: My favorite: Put in all the cutesy fonts you want, this still feels like the least wholesome ice cream parlor on the planet. -SCOUT

Did they forget to put the seat on that pair of shorts?
The name of the store is Colombia Jeans Levantapompis, which pretty much translates to Colombia Bottom Lifter Jeans. I live near Fordham Rd. in The Bronx and have been to this store. What they sell is all sorts of items to lift, tuck and flatten various parts of your body when you are less than in perfect shape. The “shorts” in the front window are not shorts, it’s a girdle to lift your tush underneath your clothing. The jeans are way over- priced in my opinion, even though I did get a pair, I stopped wearing them after a few uses because I really hate feeling like a stuffed sausage, now I’m just working out. These items are very popular among south american women but have gathered more popularity among other latina women in the past few years. Hope this helps!
Well, there is a certain segment of the population that goes for the Big Bodacious Butt – and more power to them if that’s what make people happy! I’m sure we all (unfortunately?) remember the Sir Mix-A-Lot tune…
