I Should Really Be Driving This Car
I’m speechless… I wish I could say that this is the new “SCOUTING NY” official website car, but it’s not. It was sent to me today by frequent reader Jack, who noticed it in Williamsburg. Who is this impostor, and how could he be so insidious as to steal my monicker for his car doors??…
How To Visit A New England Fishing Village In The Bronx
There is a magic road in The Bronx. At first, it seems like just an ordinary road through the woodsy Pelham Bay Park. But then, after a short ways, an old bridge appears in the distance. Though you probably won’t notice it, the magic happens just as you cross the midway point of the bridge….
A Walking Blood Cell in LIC
Nothing is more surreal than crossing the street in Long Island City yesterday beside what I can only guess is a giant, glasses-wearing red blood cell, and overhearing him talking to the guy next to him about how hard it is to find an affordable 2-bedroom in the city. They went into a Mexican restaurant,…
An Abandoned Stone Mansion Hiding In The Bronx
I’ve been doing a lot of scouting in the Highbridge Section of the Bronx, a neighborhood largely composed of large brick apartment buildings. The other day, I was driving down Woodycrest Avenue when something unusual caught my eye at the corner of West 167th Street… What the heck was that stone building tucked in behind…
The Bronx Is The Friendliest Borough In NYC
Of all the Boroughs, the one I’ve barely touched in my career as a scout is the Bronx. Sure, I’ve scouted the Zoo, and the Botanical Gardens, and Riverdale, and all the other places people typically mean when they say “Oh, I’ve been to the Bronx.” But not the real Bronx.
NY’s Green Mutant Teenagers Celebrate 25 Years
Yesterday, the Empire State building was lit up green for Earth Day. Tonight (Thursday, April 23), it will also be green, but for an entirely different reason, ironically celebrating an event that could have never occurred on a clean planet… It’s the 25th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Anyone born pre-1980 will probably…

Did they forget to put the seat on that pair of shorts?
The name of the store is Colombia Jeans Levantapompis, which pretty much translates to Colombia Bottom Lifter Jeans. I live near Fordham Rd. in The Bronx and have been to this store. What they sell is all sorts of items to lift, tuck and flatten various parts of your body when you are less than in perfect shape. The “shorts” in the front window are not shorts, it’s a girdle to lift your tush underneath your clothing. The jeans are way over- priced in my opinion, even though I did get a pair, I stopped wearing them after a few uses because I really hate feeling like a stuffed sausage, now I’m just working out. These items are very popular among south american women but have gathered more popularity among other latina women in the past few years. Hope this helps!
Well, there is a certain segment of the population that goes for the Big Bodacious Butt – and more power to them if that’s what make people happy! I’m sure we all (unfortunately?) remember the Sir Mix-A-Lot tune…
