Will This 200-Year-Old Farmhouse Be Torn Down For Condos?
I’ll never forget the day I first spotted the 19th century West Village farmhouse that shouldn’t exist. I was driving down Greenwich Street when I happened to glance over and notice a strange little building poking through the trees. I pulled over and headed down Charles Street… …and came upon what has to be the…
An Art Deco Masterpiece in the Bronx
Right before Christmas, I was scouting up along Grand Concourse in the Bronx near 166th Street, where you find a whole bunch of art deco apartment buildings…
The 145-Year-Old NYC Gas Station That Started Out As A Blacksmith Shop
Last week, I spent a few days scouting the College Point neighborhood of Queens. As I drove down 15th Ave, I happened to notice the gas station at the corner of 126th Street. It’s a pretty neat little 1950s-style service station…
Frenchie’s Gym – Not Your Local Crunch
Hidden on the second floor of this building adjacent to the JMZ elevated train line in South Williamsburg is Frenchie’s Gym, a slice of authentic old school Brooklyn culture that has somehow managed to avoid the gentrification wrecking ball rapidly swinging toward it. Blink and you’ll miss it. From the ground level, the only evidence…
Man Leaps From 23rd Street Ledge
Someone emailed me a couple weeks back that there was a man jumping off a ledge on West 23rd btw. 8th & 9th. It took me a while to finally get around to checking it out, but luckily, the man is still in the process of jumping: I believe this is some sort of art…
The Fight for 35 Cooper Square
Note: It’s gone. You know 35 Cooper Square, right? Sure you do. It’s that cute little building hidden in the shadow of the modern Cooper Square Hotel, a building best described architecturally as having been inspired by Optimus Prime’s phallus. If you had passed it today at around 4:30pm, you’d have seen a group of…

Since I view the site on Google Reader, I can see posts even after you deleted them. So, my answer to the A-Lister hotel is the Trump International. Was I right?
Yeah, Trump would have been my guess too. Incidently, the tall white hotel tower on opposite side of the park is The Pierre. It’s former ballroom is now a penthouse for sale. Might be interesting to do a piece on that, as it is supposed to be quite something.
Mandarin Oriental at Columbus Circle?
The Mayflower? Oh wait, that’s not exactly A-list…but I did stay there for a movie job in early 2001 so I remember that view.
The Ritz-Carlton
This is just a shot in the dark, but is it John Lennon’s room? It would be appropriate….
The Plaza.
Since the Post caption is “A view from an A-Lister’s hotel room”; I would say you were at the Carlyle
It is from Columbus Circle — which looks to be Mandarin Oriental – in the Time Warner Center.
The Mayflower hotel has been gone for years – it’s now 15 CPW, which is has some of the most expensive real estate in NYC – that and TWC. I love – and live on the upper west side. This is my hood.
since my DH built the darn TWC, I’m guessing from the angle this is Trump Intl.. a tad north of it.
Essex?
בתי מלון, אין על מי לסמוך חייב לבדוק מלונות לעוף מפה !!
I was going to say 15 Central Park West. Does that have a hotel though? I don’t think so.
