The Abandoned Farm Cemetery in Queens
Staring down 54th Street from 31st Ave in Woodside, Queens, a street lined with boxy brick apartments and a scant bit of foliage, one would not expect to find one of the oldest cemeteries in New York nestled in amongst the buildings… But there it is, halfway down the block: the Moore-Jackson Cemetery, founded in…

One of my favorite structures in New York City is the little abandoned building under the 59th Street Bridge.
The Forest In The Hills
This past fall, my fiancee and I went to Europe. Among our many stops, we visited this really charming medieval village set in the hillside… OK, that was a test. Did you believe me for a second? Or am I the only one that thinks Forest Hills, Queens looks really out of place for New…

If you like this, cross the Hudson to New Jersey and check out Newark’s gorgeous Branch Brook Park, with the largest collection of cherry blossom trees in America (many more than Washington, DC). The park’ southern end is adjacent to the magnificent Newark Basilica (I forget which saint it’s named for); we go to europe to see buildings like this!
Thanks for all the effort you obviously put into this. I just discovered Scouting NY and it’s great!
